Qpyn is a Web 2.0 Internet navigation system “connecting offline media to online content” The home page enables the making of a free “pyn” for short term, long term, email, mobile, and also a photo, whilst enabling the use of a “pyn” to directly navigate to the related online content. You can also make a personalised pyn and have 2 different URL’s for desktop use and mobile use both using the same pyn.

The following is a selection of FAQ that will help to explain the Qpyn service.

1. What is a pyn ?

Qpyn creates a pyn out of any entered URL, photo and description or email address. Qpyn is to the Internet what post-codes or zip-codes are to bricks and mortar, with the added benefit of being able, if required, to navigate to a specific page deep within a website according to the URL used to create the pyn. The Qpyn navigation technology is built on 4 internationally granted patents and additional ongoing patent pendingand PCT applications.

2. How much does it cost to use a pyn, make a pyn ?

Not 1 Penny, it is FREE to use any pyn, anytime, anywhere. It is also FREE to make a "short term, long term, email, mobile or photo pyn from the Qpyn website and also from a desktop gadget or toolbar download. There are also commercial pyns, however the user does not pay to use a commercial pyn to navigate to the related website, email or photo page.

3. How can I make a pyn ?

A pyn can be made by visiting the Qpyn website home page and either copy&pasting a URL into the qpyn text box to make a FREE short or long term pyn, or choose to make an email pyn or photo pyn from the home page a desktop gadget or clicking on the browser toolbar API.

4. How do I use a pyn ?

A pyn is best used in offline media or as an email hyperlink to make it simple and easy for anyone to directly navigate to a website that has been written about or when talking about a great website you would like friends to visit. Pyns are increasingly being used by Bloggers social networking sites and multimedia sites and gamers, the list of users now encompasses the entire Internet as the only requirement being, a valid “URL”

5. Why would I want a qpyn ?

You may not need to make a pyn but you will find as countless others have the simplicity of using a pyn when you see it in print, hear it over the radio or are told one to enable easily navigating to an interesting blog or website.

6. Can pyn’s be used anywhere ?

All pyn’s are global which means they can be made and accessed from any of the Qpyn websites or related widgets or gadgets when there is an online connection. Pyns are universal although there we will offer over 25 countries that a pyn can be made for local or regional use, with additional countries becoming active in the future, just type “qpyn.com” in your browser address box to see the list of countries you can choose from and then directly access your chosen country.

8. How long do qpyns last ?

There is no specific time limit on the long term pyns and they will never expire the short term pyns last for 24 hours with medium term pyns lasting 30 days with the option to place them in the archived list so they can still be accessed according to the date they were made.

9. Can I change the graphic related to a pyn ?

Yes, all pyns can be related to a different graphic by going to the graphic thumbnail gallery site and choosing a new graphic or making a thumbnail from a photo on your computer. You can also upload thumbnail graphics for others to use at the graphic gallery site, or to your own collection by registering.

10. Can pyns be used for secure (SSL) site locations ?

Yes, but we strongly advice you not to for sensitive information sites because the pyn can be accessed by anyone from the Qpyn website or using a widget or gadget it is not advisable to make a pyn from any SSL secure data sites. Qpyn can take no responsibility for any losses due to any secure data site that is turned into a related qpyn.

11. Can I makea photo pyn ?

Yes there is a facility where you can make your own personalised FREE photo pyn that also includes a description input text box of up the 250 characters. This facility is ideal for placing photos related to a classified Ad you may be running, for easy viewing of the item for sale.

12. Can a pyn be used on a mobile device ?

All Mobile devices are ideal for using a qpyn on and Qpyn has developed a host of different platforms to cover all popular handheld and mobile usage by downloading a widget. Access is through the qpyn.com or qpyn.mobi site and generic QRbarcode reader that caters to handheld mobile phones and PDA's. When entering a pyn into a mobile device Qpyn offers the facility to test if the related website is mobile enable, giving you the option to continue or not. ALL pyns are usable on a mobile device, however qpyn cannot be responsible for the content being fit for mobile usage.

13. What is qpyn “US” ?

Qpyn “US” is for regional or local usage to enable easy access to local websites. As the Internet now encompasses the entire world it is sometimes redundant for a plumber in Bombay offering his services in Birmingham, UK or a Baker in Oxnard, Ca. offering his fresh baked goods to anyone in Cape Town. These goods and services can now be offered in the community where they are located, on the Internet.

14. Can I use a pyn for a blog site location ?

Funny enough the Blogging and the social website community were the first to start using the Qpyn service in a big way and now the mobile usage is heading to the top of the list of users with multimedia and gamers and that is why we introduced the personalised pyn service for blogs, social networking sites even eBay reminders when using the gadget countdown timer and other personal Internet content provider sites such as youTube.

15. What are “widgets” or “gadgets” ?

Widgets and gadgets are self-contained desktop utilities that are activated by clicking an icon on your taskbar. The Qpyn widgets and gadgets are total Internet navigation facilities that include search and direct URL input. Most are made for businesses to give out to their customers to enable making a pyn or using a pyn directly from the user’s desktop without first having to open a browser. They can also be downloaded from the qpyn or affiliated website. There is also a range of toolbars for browser use and widgets for the different mobile devices.

16. Why would I want a desktop Gadget ?

If you do not already have a gadget as they are also known, when you see the myriad of different functions they provide from just one click on the task bar icon, such as accessing related URL's or direct search facilities, including the direct activation of a countdown timer and clock timer and many more great utilities it offers, you will wonder how you managed without it. The mobile widget enables pyn entry prior to going online or you can choose the icon launcher to access the qpyn.mobi site directly from a mobile device. The drag&drop toolbar API enables a simple click to make a pyn of the website on the browser, including direct transfers to twitter etc.

17. Can I use a pyn for any website location ?

Yes, Qpyn’s can be made for use by any Internet (URL) location, within reason and with regards to the website content. See T&C. You can also make a photo pyn for any photos.

18. Are the pyn website links monitored?

The pyn related websites are not monitored, however any complaints would be investigated and if the website was found to contain grossly obscene or illegal content then the pyn would be removed in accordance with the T&C's.

19. Is there a limit to the number of pyn’s I can make ?

There is no limit on how many pyn’s you can make within reason, although like everything else, just because long term and short term pyn, email and photo pyns are FREE, Qpyn hopes you will not abuse the Qpyn system.

20. Can I replace the icon after I have dragged the “e” to my desktop from the Qpyn website ?

Yes it is possible to replace the downloaded icon on your desktop; it is advised that you decide on the icon you wish to replace the downloaded one with before deleting the windows icon. Right mouse button, choose properties to change icon.

21. How do I use my pyn ?

There is no right or wrong way to use a pyn after you have made one, after you have made it you can use the hyperlink to place in an email or give out to use whenever you want someone to visit the related website the easiest possible way and directly without the visitor being “Cyber-jacked” while looking for your website. Sometimes you may not want to give the domain name before a visitor accesses your site, or you may want to be able to access a website page directly when travelling and visiting Internet cafes without having to input the entire Internet domain name address and then have to search for the webpage. We also have the hyperlink EYE to enable users to see the related URL before going to it.

22. Do I need to enter the “www” prefix when I want to visit the Qpyn website ?

No, there is no need to enter the prefix “www” prior to accessing any qpyn website, thereby making it faster to access.

23. I have forgotten my pyn I made, can you find it for me ?

No, we cannot look for specific pyns unless you have registered and you can find your pyns by accessing your FREE account. If you have not set up an FREE account it is easier to remake the pyn as it will not cost you anything to remake it.

24. When I enter the pyn into the input box on the Qpyn website, nothing happens ?

If you enter a qpyn into the input box and nothing happens and you are sure you have an online connection then you should recheck the pyn you are entering and the source of the pyn, the most important thing is to copy the pyn exactly like it is written with regards to characters used. Also check that it is not an archived pyn (3 or 4 character pyn) by checking the archive and entering the pyn there.

25. Why do I have to enter the “http://” when I make a pyn ?

You have to enter the http:// to enable stopping the use for secure sites, this is just a precaution and reminder if you accidently enter a secure site.

26. I think someone has stolen my pyn, what can I do ?

Nobody can steal your pyn, they may be using it to pass out to other users to access your website, however, that is the intended use of pyn’s. If you do not want users to visit your website then making a pyn is a bad idea, because that is what they are intended for.

27. On the qpyn website, does it shows how to use the pyn ?

Yes if you click the “HOW TO" button you will see a synopsis on how to use the Qpyn system and to get the most out of it..

Widget or gadgets can be moved around the screen by passing the mouse cursor over the body of the widget or gadget and when a hand appears clicking on the left mouse button and dragging the widget or gadget to where you want to place it onscreen. It will locate to the last place it was on the screen the next time it is used. The coloured buttons at the top of the widget or gadget change the skin colour when clicked and the button for additional facilities leads to a cornucopia of great sites to visit..
